Since we are in a somewhat unique geographical position up here, and I am hoping for a change of seasons, here I will show what all of these seasons are for you folks and how they relate to cars. Also chime in with some of your state's unique seasons. Let's begin:
Winter - AKA Salt Season
why we have so many rust issues, but it is fun while you can hoon in the snow
Mud Season
slots between winter and spring, when everything is melting. There are roads that close during this season. Also often times you see ads for cheap 4x4's on craigslist for "Make a good woods or mud rig". That means it is good for this season
Spring
this is the best time to drive in the state. Roads are clear of people From Away
™
and the weather is nice, mostly
Tourist - AKA Summer AKA Asshole Cyclist Season
.
Yup, self explanatory. Even on the backroads you get all of this joy. Most of Portland that lives there hides out during the peak of it and waits for people to go back home to CT, MA, RI, and NY. Smell you later. Also watch out for <—- these people (kinja is screwing with my format in this table btw)
Black Fly Season
Every insect known to man comes out or is on vacation here during this season. The black flies are the worst, mosquitos are a close second. Horseflies can bite me, uhhhh wait...
Fall - AKA Leaf Peeper Season
While a fantastic time to go riding or driving, you need to watch out yet again for people that come up from states that also have foliage, because they cannot wait for the slow demise of warmth or something back into Salt Season. It is gorgeous but god damn just let us enjoy it. Miata pic for the people

In Pennsylvania we have Construction Season, which lasts from May to October. As soon as the days get longer and weather gets warmer, all the barrels come out and the road closures begin.
Many things that don't get finished before the end of Construction Season are left to lie in state until next Construction Season, making winter driving even more annoying than usual.

South Dakota:
Summer - Asshole tourists season and it's hot as balls out
August - Biker asshole season and still fucking hot
Fall: September - October AKA "All the tourists are gone!" season
Winter: November - April. Winter shows on a week to week basis (day to day if she's really bitchy). We'll swing between snowing, windy, and 5 below to 65 and sunny and back again in the same week sometimes.
Spring: Prepare for Asshole tourist season. and the weather is somewhat nice

hahaha "Although Stick Season was not always my favorite time of the year. (Cold bus waits, wind, brownness etc.) I used to love that we got one more channel on our TV because the leaves no longer blocked our reception."

I did see, and I would be interested, but I am also hella sick (maybe I'll get a flu shot next year if it save me from having to deal with this crap :P) and have to move at the end of the month, so I need to not be traipsing up north for what would undoubtedly result in a good time, a hangover, and a weekend not spent packing/throwing away things I should have got rid of a while ago...

Ottawa Ontario: Winter 1: Although this is just a general guideline. (Nov 22-Feb 22nd) Very cold, very terrible. First half of season is not so bad, because christmas is fun, but 2nd half really sucks. Wonder why you live in such a cold place. Every time it warms up enough to snow you are thankful. It wasn't warm enough very many days to snow this year. :(
Winter 2: Feb 23-Apr 19th. Slightly shorter than winter 1. It's like winter, but with sun and cold temps instead of dark and cold temps. After winter 1, winter 2 feels like a god sent because of the sun. Too bad it's still -24C (-15F).
Spring: April 9th-April 14th. If the river is completely snow and ice covered by April 9th....it may be all gone in 1-5 days. It really is incredible.
Summer: (Best Season but also tourist season) April 15th-Labour Day Tuesday.
Summer season, is the best season. Ontario actually gets fucking HOT during the summer, and it is amazing. Yes, I will drive to work with all 4 windows down at 6am, because it is already 80 degrees out. Street parking in Ottawa scarce thanks to tourists. I don't care you aren't awake yet. I am, and I am blasting NWA!
Optional Season: Indian Summer. Sept 2nd-Oct 30th. We had a great indian summer this year. This means, it's fall but it still feels like summer. Does not occur every year.
Fall: All trees dead, since no ever greens. Forests simply all sticks. Leafs everywhere. Light snow possible. Fall is sad because winter 1, and winter 2 come directly after it. Anything you procrastinated doing during the summer, do now.

Fall sounds almost like "Stick Season" in VT that someone else was talking about. I guess you are pretty close to there though
